About Golden Spike National Historical Park

One of the greatest technological achievements of the 19th century is the completion of the first transcontinental railroad across the United States. Visitors to the park can see the location of the Last Spike Site, 1869 railroad construction features, walk or drive on the original railroad grade, and get an up close view of Victorian era replica locomotives.

Park Landscapes and Outdoor Features

WINTER HOURS All park landscapes and outdoor features are open seven days a week, sunrise to sunset, year-round. This includes the Big Fill Trail, Historic Last Spike Site, East Auto Tour, picnic areas, outdoor exhibits, and restrooms. NOTE: Seasonal access to some areas may be limited during the winter months due to weather events and other unforeseen circumstances. See Visitor Center and Park Alerts for seasonal schedules and closures.
